Rwanda and Morocco seek stronger cooperation-agric

The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) has received a Moroccan delegation and discussed on potential areas of cooperation between the two countries in agriculture sector.

The delegation, led by Khalid Abdellaoui, the Deputy Director General of the Mutual Insurance Central of Morocco, was received on October 6, 2016 by Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Dr Gerardine Mukeshimana at the ministry’s headquarters in Kacyiru.

According to Abdellaoui, the visit was meant to get better understanding of Rwanda’s agriculture sector, share experiences and discuss on potential areas of cooperation. The official also noted that they are much interested in partnering with Rwanda in agricultural insurance and agri-financing.

With extensive experience in agriculture development, Moroccan side has a lot to share with Rwanda in a bid to take the country’s agriculture sector to the next level.   

During the meeting, the officials noted that potential areas of cooperation between both countries in agriculture would include agricultural insurance, irrigation, horticulture, soil fertility, animal production & health, and capacity building among others.
