President Peter Mutharika appointed commission of inquiry has this Thursday to finish its job and give the Head of State a report.
The commission secreatary, Mike Chinoko, was upbeat the commission would meet the Thursday deadline.
“We will make it, we have finished investigations and we are now dealing with findings,” he said on Wednesday from Zambia.
Chinoko said only two members flew to Zambia as part of the investigations whilst the rest were in Malawi completing the findings to meet the Thursday deadline.
Mutharika granted the commission a week long extension after they failed to meet the initial 30 day deadline.
He said the commission has done all the interviews it lined up in Malawi and Zambia.
Chinoko however said it was up to the President to decide when to make public the commission findings once the report on the maizegate is given to him.
Mutharika ordered the inquiry after some section of the society reported suspicious dealings in the way maize was procured from Zambia by Agriculture minister George Chaponda and Admarc CEO Foster Mulumbe.
The parliamentary inquiry chair Joseph Chidanti Malunga has also said his inquiry would hand over its report to the Speaker Richard Msowoya on Monday.
He said the Agriculture and Public Accounts parliamentary committees will work overtime over the weekend to complete the report.
