Narok County Executive Committee (CEC)Member in charge of Agriculture, Ms. Joyce Keshe has asked area farmers to register to enjoy government-subsidized services.

While speaking during the launch of phase two farmers’ registration exercise in Narok, the CEC asked farmers who were not registered during the first registration exercise to register during phase two.

“The second phase of farmers’ registration has kicked off country-wide, and farmers need to come out in large numbers to be registered,” said Ms. Keshe.

Ms. Keshe said the farmers who have registered in the first phase of the registration, their details exist in the database and need to be registered as well because there is an adjustment that might occur.

“If a farmer has increased the land for production such as from 20 Ha to 50 Ha of land, he/she is required to be adjusted in the system, while those who have shifted to different fields such as from Maize to wheat, are also required to be adjusted in the system,” Ms. Keshe said.

Ms. Keshe said the registration will help the ministry in planning exercises for the farmers’ needs.

Ms. Keshe said the registration will give farmers a chance to benefit from government services such as subsidized fertilizers and training.

Ms. Keshe assured farmers that the information collected will not harm them in any way but will be of great importance because they will enjoy government services.

The CEC said phase two of farmer’s registration will be conducted by the same officers, who are well-known from their respective wards and villages.
