As part of efforts to make food more accessible to Nigerians, a biofortification agency wants integration of biofortified seeds and grain in public policies and programs.

It is also increasing interest and investment in biofortified products from the private seed and food sector in Nigeria.

These are stakeholders from various agencies in the agricultural industry.

One of the focal points of this gathering is to enlighten Nigerians on the essence of nutrients like iron, zinc, and vitamin A to be included in our everyday food.

With more emphasis on biofortification, it is expected that food items will reduce in the markets.

According to UNICEF, an estimated two million children in Nigeria suffer from severe acute malnutrition, but only two out of every 10 children affected are currently reached with treatment.

These stakeholders say Biofortification is the solution.

They also advised the federal government to include Biofortication in the 2025 budget so as to improve nutrition among individuals and families.
