President of the Republic of Malawi Lazarus Chakwera received Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Monday, who said Ukraine will provide Malawi with assistance under the Grain from Ukraine program.
"Building on the dialogue between Ukrainian and Malawian leaders, I was honored to be received by President Lazarus Chakwera in Lilongwe. We appreciate Malawi's firm and consistent stance on Russian aggression against Ukraine, as well as its support for the Peace Summit communique," Kuleba said on X Social Network.
The minister also noted that "Ukraine is not only grateful; we also want to be helpful" but is also aware of the severe impact of climate change on Malawi's food security.
"Per President [of Ukraine Volodymyr] Zelenskyy's instructions, I conveyed that Ukraine has decided to assist Malawi as part of our 'Grain from Ukraine' program. We also discussed the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in agriculture, pharmacy, digitalization, and other fields," Kuleba said.
