The Texas Wheat Producers Board hosted a delegation of grain industry executives from South Africa on Aug. 25 to 27 in Houston. The group, accompanied by a representative from the U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) Cape Town office, toured several key facilities as part of Texas Wheat’s ongoing efforts to promote high-quality wheat to international customers.

The trade delegation included leaders from Tiger Brands, one of South Africa’s largest food companies, and a wheat trader from a prominent agricultural trading firm. South Africa is a significant player in the global wheat industry, both as a major consumer and an influential buyer. The country’s growing demand for wheat is fueled by its large population and expanding food sector, with wheat being a staple ingredient in various food products.

The visit included a tour of the Port of Houston, a crucial hub for the export of Texas-grown wheat to global markets, and the Hansen-Mueller export facility, where the group observed the logistics and handling processes that ensure the efficient movement of wheat from Texas fields to destinations around the world.
