It’s a pre-cleaner that removes foreign material from grain before it reaches the dryer, making drying less messy and more efficient, says AGI technical sales representative Ron Kleuskens.
“It’s going to reduce the amount of fines that go into the dryer and consequently get expelled from the dryer,” he says.
“Mixed-flow dryers inherently are pretty dirty. So red dog, bees’ wings, whatever we want to call them coming off the corn kernels, tends to blow out of the ducts. By having the pre-cleaner on it, that’s going to reduce the amount of fines expelled by the dryer, along with wheat chaff and other foreign matter that we don’t necessarily want in the grain.”
The result is a cleaner drying and storage site and a cleaner sample entering the dryer and the bin.
It saves time and money by reducing the volume of material being dried. It also makes it easier to manage grain in the bin.
“We don’t end up with a core of really dirty material in the middle of the bin, which makes it easier to aerate the bin,” says Kleuskens.
The AGI Milltech Pre Cleaner has metal and wooden sieves, a built-in blower system and a scalperator drive that can handle sticks and straw. It’s high-pressure blower can remove up to 75 per cent of immature grains during the cleaning process.
