Equity Bank Rwanda, in partnership with USAID Kungahara, hosted an Agri-Export Networking Event aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation in Rwanda’s agricultural export sector. The event, held on Thursday evening, November 21, 2024, brought together agricultural exporters to connect and engage with the Bank, creating opportunities for stronger partnerships and sustainable growth.
Speaking during the event, Equity Bank Rwanda’s Managing Director, Hannington Namara, emphasized the institution’s commitment to transforming the country’s export landscape.
“Tonight, we reaffirm Equity Bank Rwanda’s dedication to transforming Rwanda’s agricultural export sector. Collaboration is key—through strong partnerships and bold ideas, we will redefine Rwanda’s export narrative and drive growth forward. Rwanda imports more than we export—a challenge we must address head-on. With the right investments, partnerships, and innovation, we can turn this around,” Namara said.
He highlighted agriculture’s vital role in socio-economic development, adding: “Agriculture is more than a sector—it’s a lifeline for communities. By investing in Rwanda’s agricultural exports, we create jobs, strengthen foreign exchange, and transform lives. This is our vision for socio-economic growth.”
Namara also stressed the importance of partnerships in driving success. “The success of Rwanda’s agri-export sector depends on strong partnerships. With the right collaboration, funding, and determination, we can open a new chapter of growth and opportunity for our nation. Equity Bank Rwanda is fully committed to supporting these efforts and empowering exporters to thrive on the global stage,” he noted.
The event aligns with Equity Bank Rwanda’s broader mission to empower agricultural exporters, support value-added exports, and address Rwanda’s trade imbalance. It also serves as a platform to foster collaboration among stakeholders committed to driving growth in the sector.
Thursday’s networking event marks a significant step in strengthening Rwanda’s agri-export sector, paving the way for increased competitiveness in global markets and a brighter future for Rwandan communities.
