Van Der Burgt Grains (VDB) received a C$500,000 grant toward a C$7.2 million project to construct a storage facility and sensing equipment to increase capacity, differentiate products and access new markets.
In addition to the new grain storage facility, VDB Grains will be installing solar panels and radar sensing equipment. The project will allow it to increase volumes and expand its market share throughout Ontario.
The grant is through the province’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.
“We are grateful to the province for supporting this project that has allowed us to continue to expand and meet the needs of farmers across our region,” said Steve Feeney, chief financial officer of VDB Grains. “This project has allowed us to provide grain producers with access to diversified global grain markets and ensured that we remain resilient in the face of trade and economic uncertainty.”
VDB Grains is an independent, family owned and operated grain trading and storage company based in Mitchell, Ontario, Canada. Established in 2007, the company purchases, conditions and supplies all major grains and oilseeds throughout Ontario and globally.
