The weather conditions of the third decade of April were unsatisfactory for the development of winter grain crops. At the same time, the existing infectious background of phytopathogens against the background of crop weakness and damage created favorable conditions for the further development of a complex of pathogens on crops. Therefore, Ukravit experts recommend paying special attention to crop protection in the T2 phase.
“Night frosts and gradual accumulation of effective heat combined with varying degrees of moisture in certain areas have led to the spread of diseases in winter grain crops,” says Ukravit’s head of agronomy department Oleksandr Myhlovets. “In different regions, winter wheat, barley, and rye crops are affected to varying degrees by septoria, powdery mildew, tan spot, and other types of spotting, brown rust, and root rots. In case of rain and the establishment of appropriate temperature conditions, especially in dense plantings with a high level of nitrogen nutrition, the situation can become critical. To prevent these and other dangerous diseases from causing a decrease in future yields, we strongly recommend ensuring effective protection of grain crops in the T2 phase. Disease control of flag and leaf rust is one of the key elements of the strategy for fungicide protection of grain crops.”
To protect winter grains from major diseases in the T2 phase, especially in regions with moderate to sufficient moisture supply, Oleksandr recommends choosing a fungicide with translaminar properties – Sinan (pyraclostrobin, 130 g/l + difenoconazole, 130 g/l). By combining active ingredients, it possesses preventive, curative, and anti-sporulation properties.
Pyraclostrobin is a locally systemic fungicide that acts by inhibiting the transport of electrons in the respiratory chain of mitochondria and blocking the pathogen’s ability to breathe and produce energy. This active ingredient has protective and curative properties, can penetrate plant tissues, and exhibit translaminar mobility, reaching the lower and inner layers of the leaf blade. Maximum effectiveness is achieved with preventive treatments. Difenoconazole is a systemic fungicide with protective and curative properties that disrupts the demethylation process during ergosterol synthesis, necessary for building fungal cell walls. It is absorbed by crop leaves, moves inside plants, and provides long-lasting protective effects.
Sinan effectively controls septoria, pyrenophorosis, rust, and barley spotting. Treatment in the T2 phase will provide treatment for affected plants, protect crops from infection by a complex of dangerous diseases, and guarantee long-term protection in the future.
