Experts propose tax on imported agric produce

Experts want a higher tax imposed on agricultural produce imported into Uganda. Speaking duing a dialogue on agro-processing and marketing at Speke Resort Muyonyo, Jane NAluga, an expert on trade tax and investment said imported unprocessed produce should be heavily taxed to protect local markets.

Limiting the importation of agricultural produce into the country is very important  why bring concentrates into the country when we are producing them. Raise the taxes on these imported commodities she said.
