Nwoya to get agro-processing centre

The Ministry of Education and sports will soon embark on the construction of a new Technical and vocational Education and Training  (TVET) institute in Nwoya District.

Set to be a centre of excellence in agro-processing, the institute will be constructed with the support from the World Bank under the Albertine Region Sustainable Development project.

The decision to establish the centre was taken during a meeting chaired by the first Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Mrs. Janet Museveni at State House, Nakasero on Friday Participants at the meeting included technocrats from the ministry, leaders from Nwoya and stakeholders from other relevant government ministries and agencies as well as the private sector.

According to a release from the ministry, the meeting was to seek validation and approval of the findings and recommendations in the report produced after the comprehensive needs assessment. The assessment was carried out by Nwoya local government authorities and other stakeholders.
