According to the Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance), India permitted the use of phosphine for fumigating imported crops, when applicable, until June 30, 2019. Previously, this permit was valid until December 31, 2018, reports UkrAgroConsult.
From April 1, 2017, India introduced a requirement to disinfect imported grains with methyl bromide. In Russia, grains are disinfected with phosphine-based chemicals. Therefore, India granted Russia a transitional period until June 30, 2017, during which shiploads of Russian grains can be disinfected with phosphine-based chemicals. Then this period was extended until December 31, 2017 and, subsequently, until June 30, 2018 and December 31, 2018.
