The pace of wheat exports from Ukraine slowed down in late 2018, reports UkrAgroConsult. In total, Ukraine exported 10.5 MMT of wheat in July-December 2018/19, or 7.2% less than in the same period last year. Moreover, this is the smallest volume in four seasons.

As before, the largest buyer of Ukrainian wheat is Indonesia. In July-December 2018/19, supplies to this country increased by 17%, to 2 MMT.

Bangladesh and Egypt, the biggest importers of Ukrainian wheat in the first half of last season, have ceded their positions to the Philippines and Morocco this year. So, Ukrainian wheat exports to the Philippines gained 77% in July-December 2018/19 against the same period last season. A more significant rise is seen in purchases by Morocco (+162%): it bought 712.8 KMT against last year’s 271.7 KMT.

Apart from slumped exports to Bangladesh (-48%) and Egypt (-46%), key buyers such as South Korea and the European Union also decreased purchases of Ukrainian wheat (by 6% and 19%, respectively).
